Petite Mutant Analysis - A test to determine the percentage of petite (respiration-deficient) cells in your yeast sample. Although healthy yeast cells always generate petites at a low frequency, a large number of petite mutant cells will considerably slow fermentation and is an indication of an unhealthy population. Samples of yeast slurry will be analyzed using a tetrazolium chloride overlay procedure to score for petite colonies.

3. Sample required: ≥1 mL slurry in ≥ 45mL of wort

4. Once purchased, ship or deliver to CCYL for analysis

5. Samples are accepted in person at CCYL M-F, 2:00-5:00.

6. Results available: 5-7 business days

This Test is designed to help aid in quality control, re-pitching, step propagation, and brewery SOPs. This test is not appropriate to detect other microbial contamination, fermentable sugars, pH, or other fermentation issues.
